VILLANUEVA MISAMIS ORIENTAL – The Regional Conciliation and Mediation Branch X conducted a Basic Orientation Course Seminar on Labor Management Cooperation (LMC) Program concept, principles and workshop to the newly organized workers of Coca-Cola FEMSA Philippines, Inc. located in Villanueva Misamis Oriental.

The Coca-Cola Misamis Oriental Plant Labor Union (CCMOPLU) under the leadership of Mr. Jonrale G. Loyola covers the 185 production workforce. CCMOPLU is independent union with Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) which took effect in January 2016.

LMC in Coca Cola was stipulated in Article V of its CBA which is known as the Work Improvement Committee (WIC) which aims to foster sound industrial relations and harmony and shall serve as a center for information sharing, resolving work related matters of common concerns and generating ideas for collaborative engagements.

“Although cooperation is being practiced, but through the implementation of WIC there is a big possibility that the Associates will be involved during the planning of plant activities”, cited by Mr. Jonrale, Union President.

The seminar workshop gathered recommendations and suggestions from the participants in order to improve their WIC activities such:

  • Union Officers to appoint representative composed of union members, officers to attend/participate during meetings before the launching of certain activities;
  • Consistency in the implementation of weekly meeting to reinforce associates and to generate suggestions beneficial to the company;
  • To assign one associate to generate list of trainings attended by an associate from the team;
  • Encourage attendance of family members during Family Day Activities;
  • Conduct orientation on Insurance (Cocolife) as reminders or general awareness;
  • Installation of Lactation Station;
  • Engage in social development programs such as Valentines’ Day, Women’s Month, Tree Planting, Brigada Skwela and Mass with Family Members;
  • Education and livelihood activities like recycling of bottles, cooking, baking;
  • Involve in circles and clubs , sports, music, writing, summer activities with family members;
  • Product Incentive and KAIZEN on productivity improvement program;
  • Cross Functional Involvement Trainings;
  • Annual Team Building and 14th Month Pay;
  • First Aid Training for all associates;
  • BOSH Training to include rank and file employees;
  • World Safety Organization Refresher;
  • Calibration and Spill Drill Training;
  • Bench Marking – exposure to other plant such as GMP, safety quality, equipment functioning and familiarization; and
  • Financial Training.

Mr. Aquiles Villanueva, HR Manager, appreciated the ideas generated by the participants and said “all the ideas and suggestion will be discussed with the top management for possible realization and improvement of activities”.
